In America today, there is a battle for more fuel efficient and environmentally friendly vehicles. Many different types of vehicles that have been thought by engineers, designed and built. Some of these are bio-diesel, Hybrids, flex fuel, water, electric, and ethanol vehicles. Although all of these designs are great ideas are supportive of using less or no gasoline, two of these cars have really made great impressions about having a cleaner environment. The two types of vehicles are electric powered vehicles and ethanol powered vehicles. Which of these designs is better for both the owner and the economy.
Overall i feel that the ethanol powered car is much better than the electric powered car. The ethanol powered car has a lot more good facts and less bad facts about it. The car is very powerful which most people need in some manner. And you can travel greater distances in one day versus having to stop for the night in some strange town and hotel which would cost more. And comparing it to the gasoline powered car, it has fewer green house gas emissions and the ethanol can easily be reproduced while gas has to be refined from oil deposits in the earth that take more time and money to find while oil is not reproducible. I strongly believe that ethanol is the way to go.
The electric car is a highly revolutionized vehicle and is truly a great design leading us away from gasoline powered vehicles. This car is powered from electricity given from a battery pack connected to an electric motor. This vehicle can be charged at home over night and be ready to drive the next day. The electric car has no greenhouse gas emissions and is 100 percent clean to run and is much safer for the environment. This car is also fairly cheap brand new. However after an average period of seven years the several thousand dollar battery pack must be replaced not including any other maintenance. Another downside to the electric car is that it has very limited power and is only useful for transporting people rather than hauling or using it for performance purposes. The car is also very dangerous for technicians to work on because of the high voltage batteries and cables that run throughout the car. When traveling great distances you cannot simply refill the tanks in five minutes and move on. It takes along time for the batteries to charge so each time they become depleted of energy, you would have to stay at a hotel for the night and find a place to plug your car in.
The ethanol powered car is a great design not to far from the gasoline engine design. This car’s fuel is made from corn which is something continually grown. The green house gas emissions are much lower with the ethanol powered car than the gasoline powered car. Another great thing about this vehicle is that it is just as powerful as the gasoline powered vehicle. There is no power loss due to switching to this car which is great for moving big loads or doing sport activities. Because ethanol is already sold at many fuel stations and does not require all night to fill up, you can easily pull into a gas station fill the tank and keep moving. If the car ever needs to be repaired, you can still take it to your previous technician because the ethanol and gasoline powered car are built the same way. Bad things about this car are that they may cost more than an electric car. It is not as clean running as the electric car and still emits green house gases.
Until we become more advanced and find an even better way to get from one place to another, we must debate and decide which vehicle suits our needs while being better for the environment. Engineers are working to not only improve the designs that we have but come up with something completely revolutionary that will not require us to once again find another way to transport ourselves with our individual vehicles within the next 200 years.
I agree that ethanol would be a superior choice for fueling vehicles. A primary reason for this is because of how rapidly the
ethanol plant design industry is growing today. So many facilities have been built in the past few years; it seems like every wise entrepreneur is getting in on the action. I know one company in particular, Coskata in PA has already reduced the price of ethanol down to $1 a gallon. This makes me think that it won’t be long before ethanol gas stations start getting established.
